MYP/DP Visual Arts Teacher

Amman Academy is a Partnership School (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama/SPK) that implements the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) to provide high-quality education for the children of employees working in the mining industry. As the DP & MYP Visual Arts Teacher, you are responsible for designing and delivering a comprehensive, inquiry-based visual arts curriculum within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP). This role requires fostering creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression in students while aligning with IB philosophies. You will facilitate interdisciplinary learning, guide students in their artistic processes, and prepare DP students for external assessments, ensuring a holistic and engaging arts education.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement an engaging Visual Arts curriculum aligned with IB MYP & DP standards.
  2. Plan, deliver,manage, and assess high-quality lessons that encourage artistic exploration, creativity, conceptual understanding, and interdisciplinary learning.
  3. Guide students through the IB DP Visual Arts Exhibition and Process Portfolio, ensuring readiness for IB assessments.
  4. Support MYP students in developing artistic skills, knowledge, and reflections within their e-Portfolios.
  5. Provide differentiated instruction to cater to diverse learning styles and abilities. 
  6. Utilize formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress in accordance with IB assessment criteria with timely and constructive feedback to students.
  7. Organize and support art exhibitions, school-wide programs, projects, and community engagement initiatives.
  8. Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum alignment between IB PYP, MYP, DP and national standards.
  9. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator. 
  10. Contribute to the development of school policies, professional learning communities (PLCs), and teacher training programs.

Background Experiences

  1. Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB MYP and DP, international, or bilingual school.
  2. Strong ability to adapt teaching strategies to a multi-cultural and transient student population.
  3. Experience working in remote or industrial communities is an advantage.
  4. Experience in interdisciplinary projects like STEM, sustainability, and environmental awareness into the curriculum is a plus.
  5. Previous engagement in teacher training, curriculum development, or educational leadership roles is beneficial.

 

Professional & Educational Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field (Master’s Degree is preferred).
  2. Teaching certification or relevant credentials (e.g., SPd., M.Pd., PGCE, B.Ed., IB PYP Certification, or equivalent).
  3. IB MYP & DP training and experience with IB curriculum planning are highly desirable.
  4. Proficiency in English for English-medium instruction; bilingual skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English are a plus.
  5. Strong portfolio showcasing personal artistic practice and student artwork.

  1. Curriculum Integration & Alignment – Understanding of both IB MYP and DP standards and Indonesian national education requirements.
  2. Cultural Sensitivity & Community Engagement – Awareness of the unique social and emotional needs of children in mining industry settings.
  3. Resilience & Adaptability – Ability to work in a remote school environment and support students facing transitional family dynamics.
  4. Collaboration & Leadership – Experience working with cross-functional teams, parents, and stakeholders to enhance student learning.
  5. Use of Digital Learning Tools – Familiarity with LMS platforms, technology-enhanced learning, and data-driven assessment strategies.
  6. Strong understanding of IB Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL).
  7. Effective classroom management and student engagement strategies.
  8. Strong organizational and mentoring skills, especially in guiding DP students through their artistic journey.
