Amman Academy is a Partnership School (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama/SPK) that implements the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) to provide high-quality education for the children of employees working in the mining industry. As the PYP & MYP PHE Teacher, you are responsible for delivering a well-balanced, student-centered physical education curriculum aligned with the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP). Your role is to foster students’ physical literacy, well-being, and lifelong appreciation for health and fitness while incorporating IB philosophies. This role requires collaboration with colleagues, interdisciplinary teaching, and a commitment to holistic student development.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging PHE lessons aligned with IB PYP & MYP frameworks in collaboration with other teachers.
- Promote physical literacy, formal sports, games, rhythms, fundamentals of body movement, and a lifelong appreciation for health and wellness.
- Integrate inquiry-based and student-led learning experiences.
- Encourage and manage teamwork, leadership, and ethical sportsmanship in all activities.
- Foster interdisciplinary learning by collaborating with other IB subject areas.
- Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate students’ physical and conceptual understanding and provide constructive feedback to support student progress and well-being.
- Organize and oversee school-wide physical activities, sports events, and health initiatives.
- Encourage students to adopt healthy lifestyles through nutrition, fitness, and mental well-being education in different ways including through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and activity/learning centers
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
- Contribute to the development of school policies, professional learning communities (PLCs), and teacher training programs.
Background Experiences
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB PYP and MYP, international, or bilingual school.
- Strong ability to adapt teaching strategies to a multi-cultural and transient student population.
- Experience working in remote or industrial communities is an advantage.
- Experience in doing trans or interdisciplinary projects is a plus.
- Previous engagement in teacher training, curriculum development, or educational leadership roles is beneficial.
Professional & Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education, Sports Science, Health Education, or a related field (Master’s Degree is preferred).
- Teaching certification or relevant credentials (e.g., SPd., M.Pd., PGCE, B.Ed., IB PYP Certification, or equivalent).
- IB PYP & MYP training and experience with IB curriculum planning are highly desirable.
- Proficiency in English for English-medium instruction; bilingual skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of movement sciences, fitness training, and health education

- Curriculum Integration & Alignment – Understanding of both IB PYP and MYP standards and Indonesian national education requirements.
- Cultural Sensitivity & Community Engagement – Awareness of the unique social and emotional needs of children in mining industry settings.
- Resilience & Adaptability – Ability to work in a remote school environment and support students facing transitional family dynamics.
- Collaboration & Leadership – Experience working with cross-functional teams, parents, and stakeholders to enhance student learning.
- Use of Digital Learning Tools – Familiarity with LMS platforms, technology-enhanced learning, and data-driven assessment strategies.
- Strong understanding of IB Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL).
- Effective classroom management and student engagement strategies.
- Knowledge of sports safety protocols and injury prevention strategies.
