Amman Academy is a Partnership School (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama/SPK) that implements the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) to provide high-quality education for the children of employees working in the mining industry. As an Early Years Teacher, you will be responsible for creating a nurturing, engaging, and inquiry-driven learning environment for young learners in an IB PYP setting. Using a play-based learning approach, the teacher facilitates holistic development, focusing on cognitive, social-emotional, language, and motor skills. The role requires fostering a student-centered, transdisciplinary learning experience while aligning with IB philosophies and SPK regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and implement inquiry-based, play-centered learning experiences that align with the IB PYP framework.
- Foster a child-led, hands-on learning environment where students explore, create, and develop essential skills.
- Integrate storytelling, music, movement, and art to encourage language development and creative expression.
- Develop age-appropriate literacy and numeracy activities through play, exploration, and real-world connections.
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment that supports all learners.
- Support children’s social-emotional growth through positive reinforcement, collaborative play, and self-regulation techniques.
- Foster independence, confidence, and problem-solving skills through structured and unstructured play.
- Guide students in conflict resolution and emotional expression using age-appropriate strategies.
- Work closely with parents to support students’ well-being, transitions, and overall development.
- Contribute to the development of school policies, professional learning communities (PLCs), and teacher training programs.
- Contribute to school events, performances, and exhibitions that celebrate student learning.
Background Experiences
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB PYP, international, or bilingual school using play-based learning and inquiry-based approaches.
- Knowledge of child development theories and best practices for early years education..
- Strong ability to adapt teaching strategies to a multi-cultural and transient student population.
- Experience working in remote or industrial communities is an advantage.
- Experience integrating STEM, sustainability, and environmental awareness into the curriculum is a plus.
- Previous engagement in teacher training, curriculum development, or educational leadership roles is beneficial.
Professional & Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Early Childhood Education,or a related field (Master’s Degree is preferred).
- Teaching certification or relevant credentials (e.g., SPd., M.Pd., PGCE, B.Ed., IB PYP Certification, play-based learning professional certification, or equivalent).
- IB PYP training and experience with IB curriculum planning are highly desirable.
- Proficiency in English for English-medium instruction; bilingual skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English are a plus.

- Use of Digital Learning Tools – Familiarity with LMS platforms, technology-enhanced learning, and data-driven assessment strategies.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development and play-based learning.
- Proficiency in inquiry-based, transdisciplinary teaching methods and classroom management.
- Excellent classroom management skills in a play-based setting.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
- Passion for nurturing curiosity, creativity, and independent learning in young children.
