The Library Coordinator at Amman Academy plays a critical role in supporting student learning by managing, developing, and promoting the school library as a central resource for inquiry-based learning and research. As a cross-level coordinator (TK-SMA), this position ensures that the library services align with the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum, fostering information literacy, digital competency, and a culture of lifelong learning.
Reporting to the Head of School, the Library Coordinator is responsible for overseeing all library operations, managing library staff, maintaining the Follett library system, and supporting teaching staff in curriculum integration. This role requires a strong background in library management, digital resources, and IB inquiry-based learning approaches.
Key Responsibilities
- Library Management & Operations
- Oversee the day-to-day management of library services across all school levels (TK-SMA).
- Maintain the Follett library system, ensuring an accurate and efficient cataloging, classification, and lending system.
- Develop, implement, and maintain library policies and procedures in alignment with IB PYP, MYP, and DP frameworks.
- Ensure the library is well-resourced, accessible, and supports student-centered learning.
- Supervise and support library staff, ensuring they are well-equipped to carry out their roles effectively.
- Curriculum & Information Literacy Support
- Collaborate with teachers and academic teams to integrate information literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship into the curriculum.
- Support inquiry-based learning by providing access to diverse print, digital, and multimedia resources aligned with the IB curriculum.
- Facilitate student research projects by offering guidance on resource selection, ethical use of information, and citation standards.
- Deliver workshops and training for students and teachers on library resources, digital literacy, and research methodologies.
- Teach and deliver specific lessons on information literacy, research skills, SEL (Social-Emotional Learning), and reading comprehension strategies to students.
- Library Resource Development & Innovation
- Curate and acquire high-quality, age-appropriate, and diverse resources that support academic and extracurricular learning.
- Keep abreast of emerging trends in digital resources, educational technology, and library management.
- Promote the use of ICT and digital tools to enhance student learning and research capabilities.
- Ensure a high standard of library displays, promotional materials, and reading spaces to create an engaging learning environment.
- Literacy & Reading Culture Promotion
- Lead reading engagement initiatives across all school levels to foster a culture of reading for pleasure and lifelong learning.
- Organize book fairs, author visits, storytelling sessions, and reading competitions to encourage student participation.
- Work closely with teachers to promote literature appreciation through curated reading programs and thematic book selections.
- Compliance & Professional Standards
- Ensure library operations comply with SPK (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama) regulations and IB curriculum standards.
- Maintain ethical and professional standards in information management, privacy, and intellectual property rights.
- Actively participate in professional development opportunities and IB library networking forums.
Background Experiences
- Minimum 5 years of experience in school libraries, educational resource management, or library coordination.
- Prior experience in SPK, international, or bilingual schools is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with IB curriculum (PYP, MYP, DP) and inquiry-based learning approaches.
- Experience in managing digital library systems (e.g., Follett Destiny, ManageBac, or equivalent LMS platforms).
- Strong ability to support students and teachers in research, literacy development, and information technology integration.
- Experience organizing school-wide literacy and reading engagement programs.
Professional & Educational Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree (S1) in Library Science, Education, Information Management, or a related field (Master’s Degree is preferred).
- Professional training in library management, information literacy, or digital resource curation.
- Strong proficiency in English and Bahasa Indonesia (for bilingual instruction and international communication).
- Proficiency with library automation systems (Follett), digital archives, and ICT tools for education.

- Regulatory Compliance & Ethical Information Use – Knowledge of SPK school regulations, copyright laws, and academic integrity policies.
Work Environment & Expectations
- Manage library services across TK-SMA, ensuring equitable access to resources for all students.
- Collaborate closely with Principals (TK, SD, SMP, SMA) and the Head of School to align library services with academic goals.
- Maintain a welcoming and inclusive library environment that supports student agency, inquiry, and research.
- Stay updated on education technology, IB curriculum developments, and emerging library innovations.
- Actively engage in professional development, IB librarian networks, and continuous learning opportunities.
- Contribute to relevant policy development in the school through memberships of appropriate groups, attendance, where appropriate, at school leadership team, department meetings, and through liaison with teachers.
