Protestantism Christian Studies Teacher

Amman Academy is a Partnership School (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama/SPK) that implements the International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum to provide high-quality education for the children of employees working in the mining industry. As the Protestantism Christian Studies Teacher, you are responsible for delivering engaging and meaningful instruction in Christian theology, biblical studies, and ethical principles. This role involves integrating faith-based education with critical thinking, intercultural understanding, and holistic personal development. You will guide students in exploring Protestantism teachings, ethical decision-making, and spiritual growth while fostering a respectful and inclusive learning environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement an engaging and inquiry-based Protestantism Studies curriculum.
  2. Integrate biblical principles, Christian ethics, and theology into lessons aligned with the national curriculum and IB framework.
  3. Utilize critical thinking, discussion-based learning, and interdisciplinary approaches to explore faith and moral reasoning.
  4. Encourage spiritual reflection, personal faith development, and ethical decision-making.
  5. Foster interdisciplinary learning by collaborating with other IB subject areas.
  6. Use formative and summative assessments to evaluate student learning and provide constructive feedback that fosters students’ academic and spiritual growth.
  7. Manage a respectful and inclusive classroom environment where students can explore faith in a meaningful way.
  8. Support students in developing personal values, ethical leadership, and community engagement.
  9. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator. 
  10. Contribute to the development of school policies, professional learning communities (PLCs), and teacher training programs.

 

Background Experiences

  1. Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB school, international, or bilingual school.
  2. Strong ability to adapt teaching strategies to a multi-cultural and transient student population.
  3. Experience working in remote or industrial communities is an advantage.
  4. Experience in doing trans or interdisciplinary projects is a plus.
  5. Previous engagement in teacher training, curriculum development, or educational leadership roles is beneficial.

 

Professional & Educational Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Theology, Christian Education, or a related field. (Master’s Degree is preferred).
  2. Teaching certification or relevant credentials (e.g., S.Pd.K, M.Pd.K., PGCE, B.Ed., IB PYP Certification, or equivalent).
  3. IB training and experience with IB curriculum planning are highly desirable.
  4. Proficiency in English for English-medium instruction; bilingual skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English are a plus.
  5. Strong knowledge of Protestantism teachings, biblical interpretation, and ethical frameworks.

  1. Curriculum Integration & Alignment – Understanding of Indonesian national education requirements and IB curriculum.
  2. Cultural Sensitivity & Community Engagement – Awareness of the unique social and emotional needs of children in mining industry settings.
  3. Resilience & Adaptability – Ability to work in a remote school environment and support students facing transitional family dynamics.
  4. Collaboration & Leadership – Experience working with cross-functional teams, parents, and stakeholders to enhance student learning.
  5. Use of Digital Learning Tools – Familiarity with LMS platforms, technology-enhanced learning, and data-driven assessment strategies.
  6. Ability to teach Christian faith principles in a balanced and critical-thinking-driven approach.
  7. Strong skills in discussion facilitation, ethical reasoning, pastoral care, and classroom management.
  8. Proficiency in interdisciplinary teaching and integrating religious studies with IB subjects.
