Amman Academy is a Partnership School (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama/SPK) that implements the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) to provide high-quality education for the children of employees working in the mining industry. As a student support special education teacher, you will be responsible for supporting students with diverse learning needs within an IB Continuum School. This role involves designing and implementing individualized learning plans, collaborating with teachers, and ensuring an inclusive and supportive learning environment. You will work closely with students, parents, and staff to foster academic growth, social-emotional development, and independence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and learning accommodations.
- Adapt IB curriculum to meet diverse learning needs while maintaining academic rigor.
- Use differentiated instruction and multi-sensory teaching strategies to engage students.
- Provide one-on-one and small group instruction to support student learning.
- Foster self-advocacy and independence among students with learning differences.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to track student progress and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Provide constructive feedback to students, parents, and colleagues.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student growth, accommodations, and interventions.
- Develop and apply effective interventions to promote holistic learning and well being..
- Provide behavioral and emotional support aligned with social-emotional learning (SEL) principles.
- Collaborate with teachers to ensure appropriate classroom modifications and accommodations.
- Partner with parents and specialists to address student needs holistically.
- Work closely with teachers, counselors, and school leadership to support student success.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
- Contribute to the development of school policies, professional learning communities (PLCs), and teacher training programs.
- Stay informed on best practices in special education and inclusive learning.
Background Experiences
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with students with diverse learning needs, disabilities, and exceptionalities.
- Familiarity with IB MYP, and DP frameworks and how they can be adapted for diverse learners is a plus.
- Experience implementing individualized interventions and differentiated instruction.
- Strong background in collaborative and student-centered education.
- Experience working in remote or industrial communities is an advantage.
Professional & Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Inclusive Education, or a related field. (Master’s Degree is preferred).
- IB MYP/DP training and experience with IB curriculum planning are highly desirable.
- Proficiency in English for English-medium instruction; bilingual skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English are a plus.
- Knowledge of assistive technology and inclusive teaching strategies.
Expertise & Competencies
- Strong understanding of special education laws, IEP development, and learning accommodations with regards to adolescent development.
- Knowledge of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RTI) frameworks.
- Healthy critical thinking and research-minded approach to work.
- Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills for working with students, teachers, and families.
