Amman Academy is a Partnership School (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama/SPK) that implements the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) to provide high-quality education for the children of employees working in the mining industry. As the DP & MYP Life Science Teacher, you are responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in Biology and related life sciences, aligned with the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) frameworks. The role requires fostering an inquiry-based learning environment that develops students’ scientific thinking, research skills, and conceptual understanding of biological sciences. The teacher will contribute to the school’s mission of providing a holistic and internationally-minded education.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, and deliver engaging lessons in Life Sciences (Biology) in accordance with IB MYP and DP curricula.
- Design and implement differentiated instruction to support diverse student needs and learning styles.
- Develop and administer assessments aligned with IB assessment criteria and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Foster a classroom environment that encourages inquiry, critical thinking, and a passion for science.
- Guide students in developing strong research skills, scientific reasoning, and real-world application of biological concepts.
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay updated with IB best practices and advancements in science education.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.
- Contribute to school events, extracurricular activities, and community initiatives.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator.
- Contribute to the development of school policies, professional learning communities (PLCs), and teacher training programs.
Background Experiences
- Minimum 2 years of teaching experience, preferably in an IB MYP and DP, international, or bilingual school.
- Strong ability to adapt teaching strategies to a multi-cultural and transient student population.
- Experience working in remote or industrial communities is an advantage.
- Experience in interdisciplinary projects, STEM, sustainability, and environmental awareness into the curriculum is a plus.
- Previous engagement in teacher training, curriculum development, or educational leadership roles is beneficial.
Professional & Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field (Master’s Degree is preferred).
- Teaching certification or relevant credentials (e.g., SPd., M.Pd., PGCE, B.Ed., IB MYP/DP Certification, or equivalent).
- IB MYP & DP training and experience with IB curriculum planning are highly desirable.
- Proficiency in English for English-medium instruction; bilingual skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English are a plus.

- Curriculum Integration & Alignment – Understanding of both IB MYP and DP standards and Indonesian national education requirements.

- Use of Digital Learning Tools – Familiarity with LMS platforms, technology-enhanced learning, laboratory work, and data-driven assessment strategies.
- Strong understanding of IB Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL).
- Effective classroom management and student engagement strategies.
