Amman Academy is an IB World School (PYP–DP) serving a diverse international community. The
College and Career Counselor is responsible for leading a comprehensive, strategic, and data-informed
university guidance program designed to secure strong international university acceptance outcomes for
students.
Working within an IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) framework, the
counselor provides individualized academic advising, global university application strategy, and career
pathway planning for students in Grades 8–12. This role requires deep expertise in competitive
international admissions systems (including US, UK/UCAS, Canada, Australia, Europe, and Asia-Pacific)
and a proven track record of successful placements at reputable global institutions.
The ideal candidate combines technical mastery of international admissions processes with cultural
intelligence, strategic thinking, and the ability to guide families through complex global higher education
landscapes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and implement a vertically aligned Grades 8–12 university and career readiness program.
  2. Guide students through international university research, selection, and application strategy.
  3. Provide expert advising on global admissions systems (Common App, UCAS, direct entry
    systems, portfolio-based programs).
  4. Support DP students in aligning subject choices, predicted grades, and extracurricular profiles
    with international university expectations.
  5. Coach students in personal statement development, essay writing, interviews, and portfolio
    preparation.
  6. Oversee transcript preparation, recommendation processes, documentation compliance, and
    submission timelines.
  7. Track global admissions trends, scholarship opportunities, and evolving international policy
    changes.
  8. Build and maintain relationships with international universities and admissions representatives.
  9. Design and lead Parent Salons and workshops focused on global admissions systems and
    financial planning.
  10. Maintain comprehensive data tracking systems for applications, acceptances, scholarships, and
    placement outcomes.
  11. Collaborate with admissions and leadership teams to communicate post-secondary success
    outcomes for recruitment and retention.
  12. Contribute strategically to strengthening the school’s international university placement reputation.

Background Experiences

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in college and career counseling within an international or IB
    secondary school setting.
  2. Demonstrated record of successful international university placements.
  3. Experience advising IB DP students through global admissions processes.
  4. Experience working with multilingual and multicultural families.
  5. Experience building partnerships with universities and external organizations.
  6. Experience in remote, corporate-sponsored, or close-knit community schools is an advantage.

Professional & Educational Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Education, Psychology, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  2. Professional certification in counseling or related discipline preferred.
  3. Strong understanding of IB MYP and DP structures and assessment systems.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of global admissions platforms and documentation systems.
  5. Fluency in English required; proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia is an advantage.
