Amman Academy is a Partnership School (Satuan Pendidikan Kerjasama/SPK) that implements the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) to provide high-quality education for the children of employees working in the mining industry.
As the IB MYP & DP Mathematics Teacher, you are responsible for designing and delivering rigorous, inquiry-based mathematics instruction that fosters students’ conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills. You will ensure students develop mathematical fluency while connecting abstract concepts to real-world applications through the lens of the IB philosophy.
This position requires an educator with a minimum of five years of IB MYP and/or DP experience, capable of mentoring colleagues who are new to the IB and helping build a strong culture of inquiry and excellence. The ideal candidate demonstrates intellectual humility, cultural awareness, and the ability to lead pedagogical change by modeling best practices and collaborating effectively with peers.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and assess mathematics lessons aligned with IB MYP and DP standards and frameworks.
- Cultivate an inquiry-based and concept-driven learning environment that promotes curiosity, collaboration, and reflection.
- Guide DP students in developing mastery of mathematical analysis and applications to prepare for internal and external assessments.
- Differentiate instruction and assessments to meet diverse student needs and learning profiles.
- Incorporate technology and modeling tools (e.g., Desmos, GeoGebra, TI Calculators) to enhance conceptual understanding.
- Develop formative and summative assessments aligned with IB criteria and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with subject and interdisciplinary teams to support transdisciplinary and real-world learning experiences.
- Contribute to the growth of IB culture by mentoring less experienced colleagues in unit planning, assessment design, and reflective practice.
- Participate in internal standardization, moderation, and data-driven discussions to improve student achievement.
- Engage in professional learning related to IB pedagogy, data-informed teaching, and student-centered instruction.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or other relevant administrator.
Background Experiences
- Minimum 5 years of IB MYP and/or DP teaching experience, with a proven record of student success in DP terminal assessments.
- Demonstrated leadership in implementing inquiry-based mathematics instruction in schools developing IB programs.
- Strong ability to scaffold mathematical concepts for students transitioning from national curricula to IB frameworks.
- Experience coaching teachers, leading curriculum reviews, or facilitating professional learning communities.
- Experience working in international, bilingual, or SPK schools; familiarity with remote or industrial communities is advantageous.
Professional & Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field (Master’s preferred).
- Teaching certification or equivalent credentials (e.g., SPd., M.Pd., PGCE, B.Ed., IB-recognized training).
- IB MYP and DP Certification and demonstrated experience with IB curriculum planning and assessment.
- Proven ability to design units that emphasize mathematical reasoning, inquiry, and conceptual transfer.
- Fluency in English for English-medium instruction; proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia is advantageous.
